THE 2010 SEA PICNICS
plus
AIR AND SEA SPECTACULARS
On 19th and 20th June we will be holding the third in the series of highly popular “Sea Picnics”, organised in aid of the Trust by Ranulf Rayner, one of our patrons.
The format on both days will be similar to previous years:
- A fun-filled afternoon, outdoors and in spectacular locations overlooking Lyme Bay
- Guests arriving by land and sea, with the latter being piped ashore
- Welcome drinks from Pusser’s Rum
- A superb seafood-based three-course lunch specially prepared by Antonia’s Kitchen
- Full bar
- Music by the High Society Jazz Band
- Entertainment from the Shantymen
- A charity auction conducted by Sotheby’s, with unique items and opportunities
- Grand raffle draw with splendid prizes
- Westaway’s sausage stall
- This year, in addition to all that, there will be
- an air display with aerobatics team and veteran aircraft
- a Sea Spectacular. A mock ‘new age pirate’ attack on the Trust’s sail training vessels, countered by ‘Special Forces’ with high-speed RIBs, helicopter and surprise air support. All accompanied by simulated small-arms fire and explosions, laid on by a specialist pyrotechnics company
On Saturday there will be a Corporate Day, held on Babbacombe Downs, a clifftop location overlooking the sea and along the South Devon coast. This is being held in partnership with Armed Forces Day and Babbacombe Festival. There will be a march-past by forces’ veterans. The Salute will be taken by Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent, former Admiral of the Fleet, and the blessing will be given by the Bishop of Exeter.
This is a unique opportunity to support three local causes. Companies will be able to take tables of ten for their clients or staff, at a cost of just £500 per table.
ON SUNDAY the venue changes to Anstey’s Cove, just round the corner from Babbacombe Bay. This is a secluded and sheltered spot, surrounded on three sides by cliffs. Trinity’s three historic sail training vessels will be moored off the beach, with other visiting craft, and there will be an opportunity to visit them.
The Sunday event is for individuals, couple, families and friends. Tickets cost £50.
Previous Sea Picnics have each raised more than £20,000 for the Trust. The aim this year is to at least double that. To book, please go to the Sea Picnic website.
